Why Lovaas? - Summary

Lovaas behavioural treatment is the only scientifically recognized
method for effective treatment of children with autism. Early intervention
often results in remarkable improvements.

All children improve, some to the point of full recovery from the
condition, if treatment is early and intensive.

The Cost of "Lovaas" treatment is offset because fewer parents give
up their autistic children to social service agencies - the government saves
foster care costs ($30,000+ savings per year).

Long term government cost of care for Autistic people is dramatically
reduced since many cildren grow to be sufficiently independent to live in
the community (less need for institutions).

Fewer segregated classrooms are needed because most children treated
